Donations to Maltiti are gratefully received and put to immediate direct use to help the girls at the project

Agnes Bataabana says:

"We need money to help us educate ourselves, to enable us to purchase books and to help us learn. The students are poor and can't afford to go to school but they have the talent and we need money to help bring this talent out in the future. Some of the students  have huge potential but they need help to bring their potential out, to make their dreams into reality and enable them to better themselves and their life but also to better the nation as a whole."

We welcome volunteers of all ages and backgrounds.

The Maltiti project relies upon the support and commitment of its staff, volunteers and supporters. While volunteers face new challenges and a life style change, invariably they enjoy their stay and gain a huge amount in life experience. Many volunteers continue their support for the project and the community after returning home.

Maltiti is popular with volunteers because it allows them to be entirely creative in their teaching style and use of materials, and actively encourages new ideas for improvement and development. Working mainly with smaller groups of students, volunteers will help with their reading, writing and numeracy skills, making a lasting and positive contribution to the educational progress of these students.

Volunteers pay a subscription of £400 (US$ 784 or EUR 505) for the first 4 weeks and then £75 (US$147 or EUR 95) for each subsequent week. This covers travel in Ghana between Accra and Tamale, accommodation in a family home, breakfast and evening dinner throughout your stay in Tamale, and expenses of support staff (e.g. drivers).

To volunteer, please go to VOLUNTEER ONLINE. You can also make preliminary enquiries and ask questions without obligation via ENQUIRIES.

Travelers to Ghana must arrange their own visa - a supporting letter from the Organisation will be provided to volunteers to support their visa application.  Volunteers are responsible for their own travel to and from Ghana - i.e. fares between your home and Accra, and for their own health and wellbeing while in Ghana.

Volunteers must take full insurance to cover their stay in Ghana. The Maltiti organisation does not accept any responsibility for your health, safety or welfare during your stay, although of course we do everything we can to help to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable.

Volunteers are also advised that, this being a developing region, standards of health care, living conditions, hygiene and safety are not of the levels they may be used to.
